Welcome to La Salsamenta, where our culinary story began in 2012 as a cooking school founded by Sara, the visionary and eldest sister of our family. Sara, an interior designer turned passionate food enthusiast, decided to embark on a new chapter, swapping construction for the world of gastronomy. Trained in various culinary schools across Barcelona. She initially offered cooking courses, and it quickly changed to offer hands-on cooking classes in Barcelona.

A Family who Loves Cooking

Driven by our family’s shared love for cooking, Clara, Sara’s sister, joined the team a few years later, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge in Yucatecan and local Mexican cuisine. La Salsamenta isn’t just a charming secret garden where we do cooking classes. It’s a place where cultures converge, and culinary traditions are shared.

Dehesa de l'Albufera, Authentic artisanal rice

"Arros de Valencia" is a Designation of Origin that protects and identifies rice cultivation in the Valencian Community (Spain). The J. Sendra, Bomba, and Albufera rice varieties are perfectly adapted to the Albufera Natural Park, where rice cultivation dates back over 1,200 years.

Hebra Roja, Spanish Saffron tradition

A traditional family from Balazote town in Castilla-La Mancha, province of Albacete. Located in a protected geographical area classified as the best and largest saffron production area in the world. The location allows them to produce Hebra Roja saffron, one of the best quality products in Spain. They provide La Salsamenta with the best ingredients for our Cooking Classes.
